“Shine bright like a diamond”.

As the short famous line of the song “Diamonds” suggests, diamond surely symbolizes shine, sparkle, elegance, luxury, and etc. But as the saying goes “there are always two sides of a coin”. Together with diamond is the impression “Expensive”.

Diamonds being expensive is a no-brainer thing for all of us. Keeping this in mind, diamonds are expensive because they are hard to get plus they are rare and beautiful stones.

Diamonds are naturally formed in the Earth’s mantle. No one exactly knew how long does it take diamonds to form, it may took days, weeks, months, or years. It may form continuously or may stop because of certain factors like temperature, pressure, source of carbon, as said by scientists. In simpler terms, the source of diamonds have no assurance of sustainability, another reason of diamonds being expensive

That is why a new breed of diamond is “cultivated”. Yes, “cultivated” is the term not “mined”.

After the 1979 discovery that diamonds are purely made of carbon, scientists have tried hard to create “man-made” or what they call “cultured” diamonds. Today, together with the advancement of technology, they have succeeded in recreating the natural process to create diamonds, above the Earth’s surface.

This discovery is slowly turning into a legit threat to mined diamonds.

Even here in the Philippines you can already buy your own elegant cultured diamond.

Golcondia, the world’s first brand and showroom of cultured diamonds, is the exclusive distributor of cultured diamonds from IIA Technologies in Singapore.

The company echoed the name of Golconda, a fort located in India which at that time is the only country that have known diamond mines in the world. The region is known for the mines that have produced some of the world’s most famous gem, including the Koh-i-noor, Nassak Diamond, and the Noor-ul-Ain. The “Hope Diamond”, one of the most famous jewels in the world, is believed to be derived from Golconda.

As for the legacy of the place of they echoed the name of the company, Golcondia wants their name to be recognized for the quality of it’s cultured diamonds.

“I don’t want to be known as number one in quantity, i want to be number one in quality” said Golcondia CEO Tomy Florencio.

However, one of the main problem is the lack of education of the people on cultured diamonds.
